Earth Day is a worldwide celebration, to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It happens every year and is observed on April 22. It’s a big push to “Be Green” or “Protect the Enviroment!”
We do our part everyday by doing cloth diapers/wipes, homemade cleaners, recycling and soon putting together our very own compost. We also use our car less & walk more once the weather is nicer. I also try my best when it comes to crafts, to use recycled items from our house.
And you know how the other day I shared the Green Kid Crafts-Earth Day Activity Guide?
Well….I was so inspired by that activity guide, that I decided I needed to make a whole post dedicated to Earth Day.
So today I’m sharing some our fun Earth Day crafts we did this weekend.
Weekends are the prime time to get crafts done with lil man. As you can see, my husband can do the craft with lil man, while I get to be behind the camera.
Plus things seem to be calmer. I’m the perfectionist, while my husband is like “whatever you want to do, do it son!”
Don’t know what I’m going to do in the next couple weeks without my husband here, on a daily basis.
Anyways, back to the crafts.
The above picture was the “Handprint Tree” in the works.
And here is the finished product.
All you need is brown/green paint, paint brushes & paper.
Daddy’s hand is the tree trunk, while lil man’s hands are the leaves. Then I added some apples, grass & birds for my special touch.
Here is another handprint craft. All three of us, did an “Earth” print. From left to right, mom/dad/child.
To achieve the look, grab some blue/green paint, brushes and paper. Paint your hand blue first. (Act fast, because it dries quick) Add some green spots for the “continents.” Press on the paper and wool-ah, EARTH!
Now for the Toilet Paper Roll Trees. Out of construction paper, cut out the top part of the tree. (Kinda like a cloud shape) Take your toilet paper roll and cut two slits, one on each side. Slide in your paper. Stand up. Glue on some pom-poms to represent apples or leaves.
And before I end this post, please check out some of our past crafts that were used with recycled items.
Hope this inspired you! Check back soon to learn how we made our very own compose & bird house for the backyard.
